a drab post is what i left you with this morning & reading it again now, a few hours later- i’m surprised at how truly blue i was at the time. i do think it was the painkillers. stay clear of those! for after a fabulous client meeting, a wonderful soccer practice with my 3 favorite girlies, and dinner out at our local mexican dive- i’m whole again. well, maybe not whole- but on the mend.

i’m actually really excited about the weekend & next week. let’s see- we’ve got on the books a soccer game (go fireflies!), a horseback riding lesson which equals more alone time pour moi, a couch being reupholstered (that makes me smile), and lots of easter prep & spring cleaning. oh & writing a business plan for my newest venture. so yes. it’s me now. back from the dark side. ready to embrace happiness.

i’m worn out & blue today. feeling sad all around. i know i’ll snap out of it- i always do. maybe it’s the painkillers wearing off. maybe it’s my hormones. maybe it’s just moody me. you see, today i have no desire to do anything but sleep. i want to sleep for weeks. to be undisturbed. in my nightgown. under the covers. but i’ve got the shower running & a client meeting planned. so i’ll carry on. like a good girl. and i’ll do what needs to be done with a happy heart. but inside- inside today- i am nothing but blue

jo at a cup of jo introduced us to these “rad” vertical gardens & my mind is spinning. i want to make my own. super cool idea. super cool company- the cutting garden. love their approach, look, vibe. rad it is

straight from the u.k. the lovely brand, liberty of london, is all over target (and so was i yesterday recovering from the blues with a good dose of retail therapy). from their girlie nightgowns that i just had to have for summer to their fun bikes covered in florals- it’s retro spring time inside target stores for sure. i love the look & think i need more of it in my life

i have loved this sofa & the fabric on it for as long as i can remember holding the cover issue in my hands. i really wanted a carved french sofa for my rather boxy living room. and my favorite all time sofa was our red velvet one in budapest. so i knew i wanted a red fabric to brighten the thatch brown walls. charlotte a.k.a worlds best mom called me last weekend with a special she had found at an estate sale for around $250. i bought it sight unseen. when it was delivered, i knew she was right. it was perfect. i’ve sourced the fabric & just need to order. i can’t wait for this piece to be covered in that gorgeous fabric. i hope to get it done before easter

we’re back. i’m back. from a fast trip to disney! over spring break with my trio. the first two days were fantastic & then we got hit with horrible weather and a tooth ache that nearly sent me over the edge. so after some heavy pain killers (which i am still on) & a look at the forecast, we came home 3 days early. the girls really could have cared less. the wee ones loved their day at magic kingdom & like their mama, they all adore a good hotel. s drove 9 hours in the rain with me asleep (knocked out) almost the entire time. he’s such a trooper. i’m finally going to the dentist today at 4. it seems a cap came off my tooth. oh joy. but today it’s beautiful out- my grass is turning green on the front lawn. so pain or no pain, i’m happy & hoping this means spring really is here to stay…

wahoo! today is the last day of school before spring break! we’re off to disney. out numbered at disney. hmmm. wish us luck! i’m taking a blogging break for a week to just be. hope you have a fabulous break.

there’s a whole lot of stuff i don’t know, but one thing i do know is that i love these two cuties with all of my heart, even if they are little punks who don’t listen well, rarely go with the flow, & use the word “no” more often than yes. they are demanding, difficult, & very head strong. aren’t they grand?

to me, kate spades home is sheer delight. a perfect balance of vintage, whimsy, classical, retro & color. a study of great balance & beautiful materials combined with fabulous art & inspiring layouts. love

one of my goals in my 31st year is to take a flower arranging course. usually, i’m not into big arrangements but eddie ross’ tutorial for spring, me loves. i think i will make a stop by the flower market this weekend

happy dance! their wallpaper is installed! it’s more fabulous than i could have EVER imagined. this is just a sneak peak of the room. i’m finishing up the last details & will then have it professionally photographed. it’s so sweet & they totally adore it

i could spend hours looking at all the beautiful homes in atlanta on Blaynes blog, This Photographer’s Life. who am i kidding? i did already this morning. charming homes, large estates, inspiring outdoor living spaces. *sigh*

my fabulous client, L, likes to tell me like it is when it comes to my design ideas & i dig that about her. mostly, she loves everything i do but recently she called her guest bedroom that i was just beginning to makeover - a jail cell because the walls were grey, the bed painted grey, and yes, i will admit, it was a little drab even though she chose the color scheme! clients. gotta love them. so since then, of course, we’ve warmed up the room quiet a bit as the color was just a jumping off point to create a very sophisticated room. as a touch of 3-D art, i’m installing a plate collection. i’m in love with plate collections at the moment and had to share this great link with fabulous images for inspirational plate hangings. i’ll post ours when complete
