i’m back … having escaped from the holiday madness just barely. my husband has been home for three weeks and it’s been bliss (most of the time). since christmas, we’ve been partying like teenagers: friends round every night, loads of fun adventures with the girls, & lots of much-needed sleep late mornings for me. you could say that after three weeks of s being home, i’m a tad spoiled: coffee in bed, a break from car pool, foot massages in the tub- oh i won’t go there. all this extra care has really made me super happy & right now i’m now feeling alive! inspired! & ready to share things, places, and spaces that i love with everyone…
starting with my TWO GREAT GIVE AWAYS FOR JANUARY!
i fell in love with these two etsy sellers right away & had to share them with you!

our next give away is sweet: hand made valentines cards by the fabulous etsy seller chocolate sundae! she designs custom birthday invitations, mailing labels, all kinds of scrap booking embellishments and journal spots, gift tags and on and on. she’s super creative & anyone could use these adorable cards that she is so graciously giving away. to win, you just leave a comment below! easy. a winner will be drawn at random on january 23rd as well.

one of my favorite projects is in stage 3 of the decorating process. we’ve redesigned the formal living room, we’ve added to & upgraded the keeping room, we’ve given new life to the kitchen & fitted out the basement from ground up. the house is very traditional with a few transitional pieces. we still have to finish off the spaces with window treatments & a few more minor add ins. here are a few of my favorite shots of the work in progress
i really can’t sleep at night because i am obsessed. my current obsession is this gorgeous fabric by schumacher (which also comes in a wall covering). it’s possibly sad that a fabric could keep me up at night but seriously- i can’t decide whether to do the paper or the fabric in my family room. i have a beautiful linen sofa that i picked up at a sample sale & i think big dramatic pillows would look divine on it + i’ll upholster my latest ebay find (red bamboo dining chairs) for my breakfast room in the same fabric. although the aquamarine is more my color palate for the family room- i’m leaning towards the alabaster. it’s gorg. i found these ready made pillows on ebay & i adore this image of the chairs done up in the same fabric. sigh. it’s such a big decision to make- i may need another sleepless night to think about it
jenna lyon is the creative director for j.crew & this is her house. it’s full of personality. it’s unpolished, low key, yet put together & glamorous. you can see more on the video here
ta da! my long awaited new blog design is up & running. yeah- i’ve got lots of tweaking to do. little things here and there. and some leg work to get things around here a bit more organized. but i’m really happy with the clean concept, modern feel, and youthful appeal. i’d love to hear your thoughts, suggestions, comments. please let me know
this is brilliant for small spaces
hey everyone! my name is Katherine Anderson and i just started working for jade. I am so excited to be working with her and am already loving every minute of it! i was born in san diego, california and moved to atlanta when i was 2 months old and that is where i grew up for the most part. like jade, i have also lived abroad. i lived in Brussels for three years. i love to travel. i just graduated from UGA in furnishings and interiors in may and have decided to reside in athens. i love to experience new things and can’t wait to share some of those things with you.
i will be posting every thursday. my blog posts will be called, “the weekender: athens style” & “kathrines can’t miss” so please check back in and see what might be taking place over the weekends from atlanta to madison! i will always try and let you know all the best events that may be going on!
i will also post on some of my personal favorite finds. i thought it might be appropriate, with fall beginning, to share with you some of my favorite outdoor furniture! i love this weather and sitting outside on the porch with a glass of wine and good company! the contempo collection is one of my favorite but all of the collections are great! i can’t wait to have cool nights out on the porch this fall! i also love the company artefacto. i enjoy looking at their pieces to get ideas and inspiration on styles. check back for more design and weekend updates late today! that is all for now! have a fabulous weekend!
“over the years i have learned what is importat in a dress is the woman who is wearing it”
- yves saint laurent
my friend, shelley, has inspired me. she’s a woman on a mission. she’s up grading herself. the funny thing is that she’s already adorable (barely a size 2), wears cutie pie short shorts with heels, and has long flowing red hair. little needs upgrading…
but i understand her point: we all get into personal style ruts. personally, i spend way too much time obsessing over my childrens clothes and stick to way too many basics for my own wardrobe. shelley and i are both j crew addicts & we find mixed with navy, gap, and a few designer pieces- they are good upgrading components. these are my latest favorites that i so desire for fall … i mean, who doesn’t want a beaded leopard print dress? a tunic sweater with piping? or a yellow patent leather bag or fabulous zip at the bottom black pants a la breakfast at tiffanys…
{due note the praha video in the beginning of the site- it so reminds me of my old home- central europe}
i really really like the mix that tori & dean pulled together in their new hollywood home. i know so many people are anti tori but i’m not
this toy reminds me of my childhood. i snapped it up for the girls right away & they love it. i was happy to see them put down their play cell phones and dial on this old fav. found at target
what a pretty little mirror for a pretty little price
it’s a must have
i have a thing for painted floors & stairs. ever since this picture* in domino, i’ve been searching houses to find the perfect client to convince they must have a painted stair. now seeing this picture of these painted floors, i’m not sure i can wait much longer. the pattern is bold and large and adds so much to the space. oh yes, i am in love & must find a worthy space soon. (check out the other fun contest winners below on the link above from design sponge, if you can pry your eyes off the divine hardwoods)
*i adore these stairs. don’t you?
what’s great about domino (besides their cutting edge design) is that you always discover new sources. i stayed up waaaaay past my bedtime last night scanning through all the glorious linen and cotton fabric choices at purl. i found fabric to cover bar stools in & to make dresses for the girls for fall. fabulous
i am diggin’ this blog
- elements of style -
i have a client looking for office furniture that offer a little funk. this is the best piece yet! it’s available in canary yellow (m, it’s perfect for you!) and black (which is perfect for me!) - it has a touch latch system & is simply lovely with its modern lines & brocade cut out on the legs which add a bit of whimsy
i am constantly in search of affordable kids cups & bowls that don’t scream KID! and don’t fall apart after ONE use and don’t cost as much as the (cool) FRENCH BULL collection. of course domino is the only mag to be able to lead me to my new love: the park collection @ target. the assorted colors of the melamine cups mixed with the modern white is perfect my my trio. let’s face it: with 3 kids & their friends, i’ve got to use something that won’t shatter on a daily basis. i ordered our last week & can’t wait to dump my old mismatched sippy cups & replace them with these! ya hoo! this so fills my heart with joy today
you gotta love these great stick on flowers
we have a 1930s cape cod in alexandria, va. specifically in the del ray neighborhood. we looked in hollin hills before we decided on del ray. hollin hills appealed to both of us because it’s a private, wooded neighborhood adorned with modern homes. the issue was that anything in our price range needed tons of work & with baby twins in tow, we just couldn’t and wouldn’t. but looking at this place makes me a little sad. neighborhoods in georgia like this do not exsist and i’m putting down roots here. have we missed our chance for our modern dream home? ugh. maybe we can get a modern beach place? what do you think, s?
i love the style of this weekend house found in elle decor this month.
this is one decorator i would hire
thanks black eiffel for the link
