xoxo,

photo via my latest & greatest obsession- audrey hepburn complex. i’m lost in loving these photos
~ to paint the playroom bright white
~ to add a desk for all girls to work on as all girls will be in school starting august (cartwheel!)
~ to weed out all the toys & add in more supplies (glue, tape, paper)
~ to find a great anthropologie rug on sale & use it
~ to use this piece for the television & wii
- we’ve got a great playroom. and it’s time to make it even better
please come. i’ve had enough cold. enough snow. enough wind. and while i do love a good, cozy fire- i’m over it. all of it. especially boots & jackets & scarves & hats. so please come now. bring with you flowering branches & leaves on my trees. bring me nights on the front porch swing (or at least, inspire me to get a front porch swing). drop by & let the sunshine for long days & let cool nights stay a while. for i love you, spring & all that you bring with you. a renewed since of life. a cleansing of the soul. a happiness that peels away the winter blues with each warm day spent outside in your glory
there’s a whole lot of stuff i don’t know, but one thing i do know is that i love these two cuties with all of my heart, even if they are little punks who don’t listen well, rarely go with the flow, & use the word “no” more often than yes. they are demanding, difficult, & very head strong. aren’t they grand?
to me, kate spades home is sheer delight. a perfect balance of vintage, whimsy, classical, retro & color. a study of great balance & beautiful materials combined with fabulous art & inspiring layouts. love
today it’s snowing in georgia. again. and i’m “under the weather” or some would say, may have been a bit overserved at girls night out last night. so i’m under the covers, working on taxes & bills & invoices & being sucked into every blog i can find. this photo contest really tickled my fancy
this brought tears to my eyes. it was a long 2009 and 2010 doesn’t seem any shorter (or better) so far. while i try to remain positive, look on the bright side, forget about the rest- i’m really struggling to keep afloat some days. so as the quote reads, maybe one day i too will look back & see all these times as beautiful. just maybe
one of my goals in my 31st year is to take a flower arranging course. usually, i’m not into big arrangements but eddie ross’ tutorial for spring, me loves. i think i will make a stop by the flower market this weekend
happy dance! their wallpaper is installed! it’s more fabulous than i could have EVER imagined. this is just a sneak peak of the room. i’m finishing up the last details & will then have it professionally photographed. it’s so sweet & they totally adore it
i could spend hours looking at all the beautiful homes in atlanta on Blaynes blog, This Photographer’s Life. who am i kidding? i did already this morning. charming homes, large estates, inspiring outdoor living spaces. *sigh*
my fabulous client, L, likes to tell me like it is when it comes to my design ideas & i dig that about her. mostly, she loves everything i do but recently she called her guest bedroom that i was just beginning to makeover - a jail cell because the walls were grey, the bed painted grey, and yes, i will admit, it was a little drab even though she chose the color scheme! clients. gotta love them. so since then, of course, we’ve warmed up the room quiet a bit as the color was just a jumping off point to create a very sophisticated room. as a touch of 3-D art, i’m installing a plate collection. i’m in love with plate collections at the moment and had to share this great link with fabulous images for inspirational plate hangings. i’ll post ours when complete
√ the little girls gorgeous wallpaper being installed thursday which means minus tutu bed skirts, their room is almost complete. yes, tutu bed skirts custom made. i couldn’t help myself
√ my lovely husband turns 40-something, planning a little sussie for him that requires drills & nails. what could it be? wait & see
√ organizing r’s first communion (it’s like planning a wedding, really). i thought she was going to wear this dress but after we tried it on, we were less than impressed. i’ve got my eye on this one but no promises
√ little girls admissions interview for pre k tomorrow at 8:30 a.m. (pray they make the cut)
√ prepping a clients house for a photo shoot. which means maybe, just maybe i’ll have new pictures up of my work soon! la la la la la!
damn. just when i think i’ve moved on from ikea. out grown it. can afford ‘better’ things, i stop in for a quick look see & end up with a cart of prizes & a lot on my never ending want list. check these beauties out:
1. bought three of these for the playroom. they are floor cushions but work beautifully as couch pillows too. i love the graphic design and the bright colors. a happy purchase
2. just love these. need these. have to have these. toys. tools. i don’t know. just love em
3. so diggin’ their new outdoor collection. it’s yummy. wide. with a matching ottoman. modern outdoor furniture at its best
oh the list goes on and on. but you get the jest. ikeas got great stuff out this season. maybe not always high quality but defiantly stylish & affordable. and that’s what i like
my cutie pie husband sent this to me this morning. it made me dance in bed! he knows it’s been a week full of sick stomachs and throwing up babies and missing my sweetheart. but today is F R I D A Y! the sun is OUT. the punks are well and the baby sitter is ON THE WAY. so i haven’t stopped believing. in fact, i believe it’s all going to turn out great
anthropologie is really really a pain in my back side. it’s painful to go on their gorgeous site. to click through their beautiful cover ups & swim suits & bags. i want it all {don’t you?}
i hate barbies. i detest fairy tales. i do not like crowns. i never have. so as fate would have it, my littlest girls worship anything princessy. they play belle & cinderalla & sleeping booty (as grace says). so alas! much to my dismay, i was going to give them the ultimate princess party last saturday complete with real princesses. it’s what we do for our kids. i found these simple & sweet (and totally affordable) invites via shutterfly with matching thank you notes. perfect. i hired southern belles and beaus to put on a dress up party in their antebellum venue. super. i ordered the cutest party favors known to man. great
what i did not prepare for was the snow. rare in georgia. so on the morning of the party, as the snow came down, i had two pouting princesses and quickly drying birthday cakes. i had to come up with a plan. order up! the local talent! beautiful belle & sleeping beauties paid in the proper royal attire to make a house call. hunny & w.w. with big sister too all gathered round pizza & a fabulous make-your-own tiara kit (thanks bets!) while waiting for the princess surprises t0 arrive at the door. belle and sleeping beauty sang, danced, and spent over an hour with my birthday princesses. it was magical. so it may not have been the party i dreamed up but it was the party of their dreams
